About
Our Story
Kohimono was born from a simple observation: the best coffee experiences are those that honor both the craft of coffee and the art of space design. We curate reviews of coffee shops around the world, focusing on atmosphere, design, and coffee craft.
The name "Kohimono" merges "kohi" (coffee in Japanese) and "mono" (thing/object), suggesting refined coffee spaces and objects. It reflects our commitment to finding beauty in simplicity and intentional design.
Our Values
Design as Experience
Great coffee isn't just tasted, it is framed.
We value spaces where design is intentional, restrained, and heightens attention.
Atmosphere that Supports Presence
Whether calm or conversational, the room should hold you.
We look for environments that make it easy to be here, to notice, to enjoy.
Selective by Philosophy
We do not chase volume.
We curate only the shops that move culture forward through craft, environment, and point of view.
What We Look For
When reviewing a coffee space, we consider four key dimensions: the quality and craft of the coffee itself (Taste), the visual and design aesthetic (Aesthetic), the overall atmosphere and feeling (Ambience), and the ability to achieve presence and focused contemplation (Presence).
